As a regional center, Debrecen is experiencing dynamic growth and development, and information technology plays a prominent role in this. The faculty maintains close ties with local companies, involving them in the development of education, thereby effectively training professionals who are needed in the labor market. Our teachers working at eight departments of the faculty represent outstanding, internationally acknowledged intellectual potential. Our staff have been training IT professionals at an internationally acknowledged level for several decades. Data science and artificial intelligence are important new elements of the DEIK training system, which are receiving increasing attention in more and more countries. Thanks to the high number of foreign students, first-year students can study in an international environment and improve their English language skills. Since 2011, the faculty has been operating in an award winning new building, which is located on the Kassai Street Campus.
Students of the Faculty of Informatics can major in different courses in which our goal is to provide them with such complex theoretical and practical knowledge that make it possible for them to model science-based practical problems, to find suitable methods for solving such problems, and to process and develop necessary applications in the field of Informatics. The Faculty of Informatics offers three bachelor's programs: Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering, and Business Informatics . The three bachelor's programs are also available as master's programs, supplemented by master's programs in Computer Science Education, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence. In addition to all this, the faculty also offers a teacher single-cycle degree programme in computer science.
DEIK also operates an international industrial examination center. Within this framework, students at the University of Debrecen can obtain certificates issued by leading global companies, which not only enhance the value of their degrees, but also signal to companies that graduates from the university have outstanding, certified knowledge.
Several awards are given to students who excel in their studies and who make a lot of efforts on behalf of the Faculty. Our goals which are defined in our strategy are also supported by our foundation.
The faculty also offers numerous opportunities for high school students to prepare themselves adequately for their university studies. They can participate in the IT Summer Camp, and in the fall and spring semesters, they can join several study groups, all of which earn them extra points during the admission process.
