Information and its utilization play a central role in running modern societies. It is inevitable for everyone to have the knowledge and skills to receive, understand, process and integrate information. The aim of our IT teacher training course is to train such IT teachers who are able to teach this knowledge at a proper level and to teach their students IT skills co-operating with teachers of other subjects if it is necessary.
During their education while solving computer-assisted problems, students of the IT teacher training course are prepared to use IT devices and information sources consciously, effectively in individual or group work. Special emphasis is put on the fact that the main task of IT teachers is to get their students to think logically and algorithmically and to teach them the methods of concept-based problem solution. IT teaching has a lot of common points with the topics taught in other subjects of public education, therefore developing the skills that are required for establishing relationship with them is also of great importance. Our students learn how to use application systems effectively and how to create and analyse algorithms. Moreover, they acquire knowledge of programming at a high level and study info-communication devices, technologies, artificial intelligence and computer graphics. They also acquire knowledge of Mathematics, Logic, IT-methodology and Pedagogy that is essential for teaching. In the last year of their studies they have to perform different types of teaching practice, which prepares them for working in education.
