Research Topics - Department of Data Science and Visualization

3D modelling, 3D printing

Data Science

  • Machine learning (resource optimization, deep network architectures, sample profiles)
  • Big data
  • Fusion systems
  • Applied AI ( self-drive cars, clinical screening system)

Medical, biological image processing

  • Retinal image analysis
  • Analysis of endoscopic image
  • Immunohistochemical (IHC) stained slides analysis
  • Cell detection, segmentation
  • Melanoma detection

Computer aided geometric design

  • Non-control-point-based methods in CAGD
Our goal in this research is to develop such methods with which we are able to design curves or surfaces based on different geometrical objects (e.g. circles or spheres).
  • Isoptic curves and surfaces in CAGD
Our goal in this research is to describe the isoptics of standard curves (e.g. Bézier curve, NURBS) used by CAGD. Furthermore, we are developing GPU accelerated algorithms for real time modifications of isoptic based camera positions using a new mathematical approach.
  • Cage based mesh deformation techniques
In this research our goal is to analyze cage based mesh deformation techniques focusing on their efficient creation and the wide range of applications.

Data Visualization

  • Visualizing genomic data
  • Visualization of geospatial data on the web (KML)
  • GIS Software development (ArcGIS, AutoCAD, QGIS)

Human-Computer Interaction

  • Gesture based application developement
  • MPEG-4 virtual avatars
    • Nowadays, virtual avatars are widely used in HCI platforms. In this research we are developing a web based, customizable MPEG-4 talking avatar connected with an open source AI chatbot.
